Serial-Nr.: 69XXX · Alt
Year of manufacture: 1957
This 1957 Mark VI Alto Saxophone was originally in the possession of a musician in the London Philharmonic Orchestra before the 2nd owner acquired it in the 1970s. Unplayed for many years, it came into our ownership last year, and we treated this lovely little horn to a general overhaul. Equipped with the finest of CHANU pads fitted by us with plastic resonators, this Mark VI Alto has again come to life. As if it had not lain dormant all these years, it showed what it can do already with the first tone: Its beautiful, round character has somewhat of a dark timbre which comes across as pleasantly soft. It radiates a certain sublimity, even a certain maturity, which is not surprising since it was played professionally for decades. Playing quietly and softly works like a charm, and when you really “step on the gas,” this Alto handles that easily as well!
The original lacquer is all but gone through natural wear, which is what many Saxophone aficionados love!
A superb Mark VI Alto that I believe can be used for many styles of music! Yes, good vibes…
