    SELMER Mark VI 91xxx, high F# (!)

    Serial-Nr.: 91XXX · Tenor
    Year of manufacture: 1961

    rare, exceptional, special:

This 1961 Mark VI Tenor is and was fitted with supplementary trill keys: low D# trill, G# trill (we dismantled this one for ergonomic reasons), high D# trill and high F#, all of which make it an extremely rare Mark VI Tenor Saxophone.

Apart from the not really necessary trill keys, the high F# is great, whereby most Tenor Sax players are divided as to whether high F# is good, or whether the best Tenors shouldn’t even have a high F#. It’s all a matter of taste.

But now to the real core of the matter: the sound. I have to say: the SOUND is exquisitely sonorous, reminiscent of the wisdom of an ancient tree telling stories with a deep, sonorous voice. A horn for interpreting beautiful ballads and smooth Jazz. But that’s only my, personal impression. Maybe, together, you can find different -special- sounds for each other…
