A really lovely Mark VI Alto Saxophone manufactured in 1962; equipped with a high F# it can be used for any number of musical genres. Its lacquer, which is reminiscent of honey, is still for the most part preserved, with only the side area of the bell showing signs of extreme wear, a feature which nonetheless lends the horn a certain vintage charm. The wonderful hand engraving on the bell and bow is another feature that serves to emphasize this beautiful Mark VI Alto Saxophone.
But that only concerns its looks – more important is the sound. And its sound matches its looks: a tone reminiscent of sweet honey, with a firm core enveloped in soft melodiousness. In the lower register it sounds almost Tenor-like, the flowing passage to the mid and high tonal range revealing that typical Mark VI homogeneity.
This Saxophone was given an overhaul right before we got it. Accordingly, every pad is new, and after a thorough inspection, we gave it a fine-tuning in our SAXOPHONIC workshop.
