Tenor Saxophone Henri SELMER Paris Signature, dark gold lacquer
The SELMER Signature Tenor Saxophone is the renewal of the SELMER Series III Tenor, which has been appreciated by numerous saxophonists since its introduction thanks to its acoustic qualities and ergonomic comfort. It is characterised by excellent precision of intonation and a sound that fills the room. Its ergonomics supports players regardless of playing level and musical genre. Last but not least, it benefits from the latest innovations of the Supreme Saxophone by Henri SELMER Paris: a new 3-point neck receiver for better sound homogeneity and sound density as well as an octave mechanism mounted on Teflon.
The Art Deco-style engraving on body and bell pays homage to centuries-old instrument-making techniques passed down from generation to generation in the SELMER factory in Mantes-la-Ville.

**Just sold** 1931 SELMER Alto Saxophone Super Sax, a “real” Cigar Cutter, without lacquer, 14xxx
Even though our main inventory includes the SELMER Balanced Action (BA), Super Action (SBA) and Mark VI models, we still have other vintage SELMER Saxophones in our portfolio from time to time.
This is also the case with this SELMER Super Sax, built in 1931. It is a “real” cigar cutter. What do I mean by “real”? The Cigar Cutter got its name for its specially designed octave mechanics, which is reminiscent of a cigar cutter. But not all SELMER Saxophones of the SELMER Super Sax series (SSS), which were used before series no. 19xxx, have this cigar cutter octave mechanism. The U.S. export models, for example, did not possess these conspicuous mechanics.
Be that as it may, this 14xxx SELMER Super Sax has the cigar cutter octave mechanism and is therefore a “real” cigar cutter.

1946 SELMER Balanced Action Tenor Saxophone, silver-plated, 32xxx
An authentic thoroughbred in our stable…
Freshly curried, its silver tresses gleam in the sun revealing a lovely pattern of floral design …
Naturally I’m not writing here about a racehorse, I’m elaborating on one of our SELMER Super Action Tenor Saxophones, the one I just played. Built in 1947 in times when things were again looking up and the demand for high-quality music instruments was on the upswing, SELMER produced the “Super Action” as a definitive further-development of the “Balanced Action.”
This fantastic SBA is truly a dream: its silver-plating is all but fully intact and the floral motif of the refined handcrafted gravure embellishing the bell and bow are especially beautiful. The minor scratches at places where the silver-plating is somewhat depleted are few and far between.
The Sax is in flawless technical condition; it had been overhauled directly before we got it, and we fine-tuned it again in our SAXOPHONIC Workshop. It plays like a charm, gets going immediately and has radiant power to spare. Down low it has quite a lot of volume, somewhat reminiscent, in fact, of a Balanced Action. Lovely harmonics that are not overbearing at all lend the overall rather dark timbre a certain sophistication.
Nothing is wanting in the area of dynamics. Anyone navigating the fields of potent Pop, Jazz or Funk licks has found a winner in this SBA — it can stay the course. I can see this Horn playing smooth ballads as well.
Feel free to try it out: Stop by and compare it with other beautiful Tenors from our stable, or order it through our Online Shop and test it at home. We’re looking forward to meeting you!
