According to SELMER’s serial number list, the Mark VII was produced from 1974 onwards. The list is often interpreted in such a way that from 1974 (or serial number 220801) only Mark VII were produced. This is not true, because SELMER continued to produce Mark VI alto and tenor saxophones until 1975, parallel to the Mark VII production. Sopranino, soprano, baritone and bass saxophones were built until the 1980s and weren’t replaced until the Super Action 80 model series (soprano and baritone) and Super Action 80 II (sopranino and bass).

This SELMER Mark VI bass saxophone was produced in 1985 and delivered to the then SELMER importer “Jörgensen” in Düsseldorf. From there, it was sent to Peter Neff in Cologne to be picked up by the first and only owner there. As a very ambitious hobby saxophonist, he played it as a third instrument alongside a SELMER Super Action 80 baritone saxophone (see: www.saxophonic.de/…), and a SELMER Super Action 80 II soprano saxophone (see: www.saxophonic.de/…) in various orchestras and bands.

Now it’s ready for you at SAXOPHONIC…
