1963 SELMER Mark VI Alto Saxophone, 1st Owner, fantastic condition, 109XXX
We have just completed a full overhaul of this beautiful SELMER Mark VI alto saxophone in our SAXOPHONIC workshop. As with many of our premium restorations, we used the highest-quality pads from the French manufacturer CHANU, paired with slightly convex INOX resonators. In both shape and material, these resonators come closest to the originals that SELMER used from the 1950s into the 1960s.
It’s always a pleasure to know the history behind a vintage SELMER saxophone. This Mark VI alto came from the estate of a musician who purchased it new in the 1960s and played it professionally throughout his life. He took excellent care of this horn. It shows no signs of ever having suffered a fall or any major repair. The only visible repair is a re-soldered key guard.
Now that this 1963 SELMER Mark VI is in perfect technical condition, it plays absolutely wonderfully. Its full tone has a warm, rather dark character, giving this alto a refined elegance. Combined with its beautiful appearance, it is simply a magnificent vintage SELMER alto saxophone — one that is eager to be played again.
